Opinion about findings of the article "the Dire Consequences of Sleep Deprivation"

Recently, I read a new study about the consequences of sleep deprivation. The importance of a good sleep night is something we all should care about, and I think our society doesn't talk about sleep as much we should. Plus, I am an enthusiastic of this kind of study.

The study used 234 participants to observe the consequences of sleep deprivation at a individual procedural task. All the participants realized the task at 2 following days. A group of participants went home to sleep, and another group stayed awake at the laboratory.

In the second day of activity, 14% of the group that didn't sleep didn't perform the task correctly, against 1% of the group that had a good sleep night.

The researchers associated the performance reduction of the sleep-deprived participants with their capacity of return to the task after being interrupted. Because during the task the participants were asked to stop and explain what they were doing. the sleep-deprived participants had more difficult to return to the task or to explain what they were doing.

These findings indicated that when we are performing a complex or long task and didn't sleep well last night, stopping the check social networks shouldn't be our priority. Or also, we should to sleep very well before doing an exam or work with something complex.
