About speaker
Thorsten O. Zander is full professor at Brandenburg University of Technology in Germany, leading the Chair for Neuroadaptive Human-Computer Interaction and is a founder of the company Zander Laboratories in the Netherlands. Furthermore, he is Visiting Professor at the Higher School for Economics in Moscow, Russia, is affiliated with the Swartz Center for Computational Neuroscience at UCSD, USA, and is a member of Microsoft’s Technical Leadership Advisory Board (TLAB) on Brain-Computer Interfaces and Artificial Intelligence. His research interests include using neurophysiological signals to decode the cognitive or affective state of humans interacting with technology. By developing novel Brain-Computer Interfaces, his groups aim at enabling machines to automatically assess information about the users’ state and autonomously adapt to it. He is considered a pioneering leader in the field of Passive BCIs, which he defined in 2008, and he is the co-founder and co-leader of the Society for Neuroadaptive Technology.
